Tense situation prevails in Panoor in Kannur after UDF wins local body polls; clash erupts with LDF

Kannur, Dec 13 (UNI) Violence broke out in Panoor, following the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) victory celebration at Panoor town, after the UDF wrested the Kunnothparamba grama panchayat from CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the local body election on Saturday.
UDF won 11 seats and took control of the Kunnothparambu panchayat, after 25 years of LDF regime. LDF secured 9 seats and BJP won three seats.
UDF workers organised a victory procession at Parad near Panoor in the evening, when suddenly alleged CPI(M) workers came on vehicles, covering their faces with party flags and began hurling stones.
