Telangana: Ramky Infra gets Rs 1297 crore worth contract from HMWSSB

Hyderabad, July 16 (UNI) Hyderabad STPS Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ramky Infrastructure Limited, a flagship company of Ramky Group, on Monday, announced it has received a contract worth Rs 1297 crores from HMWSSB under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) to construct and operate 5 STPs at 4 locations along the south bank of Musi River, Hyderabad.
Out of Rs 1297 crores of order value, Rs 908 crores will be spent towards construction and the remaining Rs 389 crores for the operation & maintenance of the STPs for the next 15 years, the company said in a release here.
The STPs are designed to have a capacity of 480.50 MLD and “Sequential Batch Reactor” (SBR) technology (which happens to be the largest in India to date) to deal with the wastewater effectively. The SBR technology consumes less power and is also cost-efficient compared to other wastewater technologies.
As of March 2024, out of five, the construction of two STPs located at Kokapet & Miralam has been completed and they treat 15 million litres & 41.50 million litres of wastewater every day respectively. Out of the remaining STPs, Nagole STP of 320 MLD is also ready for operation and another two STPS’ works are in progress.
The Musi River, which flows through the city's heart, has been plagued with sewage and pollution. To rejuvenate the river, nearly 70 Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) have been sanctioned by the state and central governments, which will curb the sewage from flowing into the river.
Speaking about the project, N. S. Rao, Group CFO of Ramky Infrastructure said “We thank the state and the central governments for taking up the initiative to revive the deteriorating Musi River and are extremely proud to be an integral part of it. Safeguarding our natural resources and adopting a sustainable approach are at the core of our business. We will continue to address the complex environmental challenges with our expertise and innovative solutions.”
P. Ravi Prasad, full-time director, of Ramky Infrastructure Limited said “We have successfully deployed SBR technology, which substantially reduces the footprint required for setting up the plant and also reduces power consumption and minimizes environmental impact. This project demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship and technological excellence. To date, we have avoided 56 million liters of sewage from flowing into the Musi River.”
