Telangana govt promotes Oil Palm cultivation with subsidies

Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) The Telangana government is actively promoting oil palm cultivation and micro-irrigation in various horticultural crops by offering subsidies to meet the increased need for crop rotation in the state.

For the year 2023-24, 59,261 acres have been newly brought under oil palm cultivation. Under the Oil Palm Cultivation Scheme (NMEO-OP) for 2023-24, the Central Government released Rs 80.10 crore. The state government has sanctioned a total of Rs 133.50 crore, including the state's share of Rs 53.40 crore. Of this amount, only Rs 32.72 crore were released in 2023-24, while Rs 100.76 crore remained pending due to various reasons. This delay affected the timely release of dues to the horticulture department, farmers, and oil palm/drip companies.
