Telangana Govt considers shift to long-term soft loans for irrigation sector relief

Hyderabad, Oct 15 (UNI) The Telangana government is considering a shift from high-cost short-term loans to low-cost long-term soft loans with extended moratoriums to alleviate the financial burden on the irrigation sector.
Currently, the state is grappling with the high costs associated with short-term loans, which are putting pressure on the state treasury.
By opting for long-term loans, the government aims to ease the burden of EMI repayments and reduce interest costs. The Irrigation Minister has also requested a five-year moratorium on irrigation loans from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
