Telangana doctors lose Rs 29.88 crore to cyber fraud; TGCSB launches awareness drive

Hyderabad, June 16 (UNI): The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) on Tuesday held a high-level interaction meeting with representatives of the medical fraternity to address the rising incidence of cybercrimes targeting healthcare professionals and strengthen cyber awareness across the sector.
The meeting was led by TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, along with SP (Admin) Harshavardhan and SP (Operations) B. Sai Sri. Seventy-two representatives, including office-bearers of leading medical associations in Telangana, participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Shikha Goel said cybercriminals were increasingly targeting healthcare professionals and stressed that awareness, caution and timely reporting remained the strongest safeguards against cyber fraud. She revealed that since September 2024, as many as 735 doctors in Telangana had fallen victim to cyber fraud, suffering cumulative losses of Rs 29.88 crore.
