Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti slams BRS for ‘false propaganda’ against Singareni, reaffirms commitment to workers’ welfare

Mancherial, June 14 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday launched a strong attack on the BRS, accusing its leaders of spreading false propaganda against the workers of Singareni, the state-owned coal mining company, for political gains and attempting to undermine the dignity and hard work of coal mine workers.
He asserted that the government would not tolerate any attempt to tarnish the reputation of the state-owned mining giant and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting workers’ welfare and ensuring transparency in its operations.
Along with IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Bhatti conducted an open-house inspection of the Srirampur Open Cast Mine in Mancherial district to counter what he described as misinformation being spread about Singareni.
Addressing workers and officials, the Deputy Chief Minister said, "Any insult to the hard work of Singareni employees would not be tolerated."
He said the inspection was organised to place facts before the public and expose what he termed as a "false campaign being carried out against the state-owned mining company."
Accusing BRS leaders of spreading misinformation for "political interests," Bhatti said he was not at the mine site to make political statements but to present facts to the people.
He maintained that the government had a responsibility to communicate the truth and ensure transparency.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, "The growth and success of Singareni had been built on the sweat and dedication of its workers and condemned attempts to undermine their contribution."
He alleged that baseless propaganda was being spread against the commitment of Singareni management and its transparent systems.
Describing Singareni as a crown jewel of Telangana, Bhatti said attempts to tarnish its image through unfounded allegations were unacceptable.
He also criticised letters reportedly written by BRS leaders to the Centre alleging irregularities in the company, stating that such claims were far from the truth.
“Singareni is not merely a company but an asset belonging to the people of Telangana,” he said, adding that the government would remain vigilant to protect the institution from vested interests and political exploitation.
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the government was committed to ensuring complete transparency in coal production, stock management and transportation.
During the inspection, he reviewed mining operations, safety measures and transportation records and sought details from company officials.
Officials informed the Deputy Chief Minister that the Srirampur Open Cast Mine has adequate coal reserves to continue production for another 28 years under current plans. They also explained that key operational processes are monitored through advanced computerised systems to ensure transparency.
Bhatti said the welfare of Singareni workers remained the government's top priority.
He noted that efforts were underway to provide world-class healthcare facilities and international-standard education for workers’ children.
He said advanced healthcare infrastructure, including a Cath Lab, was being established, while funds had been sanctioned to upgrade educational institutions serving workers’ families.
The Deputy Chief Minister also expressed concern over reports of increasing cancer cases in rural areas and said the government had launched preventive measures, including deploying fully equipped cancer screening buses to villages for early detection and treatment.
Emphasising worker safety, Bhatti said the government had introduced a first-of-its-kind accident insurance scheme providing compensation of ₹1.25 crore to the families of workers in the event of fatal accidents.
He further announced that students from workers’ families aspiring to join the Civil Services would receive full financial assistance for the Preliminary, Main and Interview stages of the examination process.
Bhatti said the government was committed to balancing welfare and development while taking Singareni to greater heights.
