Telangana BJP slams GHMC expansion, terms it politically motivated

Hyderabad, Dec 10 (UNI) BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao sharply criticised the Congress government’s proposal to expand GHMC limits by adding 20 municipalities, seven corporations and several village panchayats on Hyderabad’s outskirts.
Talking to the media at state party office here on Wednesday, he said the move would push GHMC’s jurisdiction to nearly 2,000 sq km and increase the number of wards to 300, but without addressing basic civic issues that existing wards continue to face.
Rao alleged that the expansion was not in public interest but intended to offer political advantage to the AIMIM. He warned that residents of newly added areas would face steep tax hikes despite inadequate infrastructure, including poor roads, drainage and water supply.
