Tear gas, baton charge as CJP’s Parliament march over NEET leak turns chaotic

New Delhi, Jul 20 (UNI) Thousands of supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), marching toward Parliament were stopped by security forces outside the Sansad Marg Police Station on Monday as they demanded accountability for the alleged NEET paper leak and the resignation of union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The city was thrown into gridlock as police barricaded streets several kilometers away from the protest site. Traffic snarls and long tailbacks of vehicles were a common sight across central Delhi. Many midday commuters were able to reach their offices only after several hours.
The protest, held on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, turned chaotic after demonstrators attempted to push through multiple police barricades erected around Parliament Street, Raisina Road and Patel Chowk. Security personnel resorted to baton charges, used water cannons and fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd, halting the march at Raisina Road, around 200 metres from Parliament.As a result, several protesters sustained injuries, including some who were seriously injured.
