Tawang town in Arunachal Pradesh under thick blanket of snow

Itanagar, Feb 12 (UNI) The picturesque town of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh bordering China has been blanketed in heavy snowfall, transforming the region into a breathtaking winter wonderland. The fresh spell of snow has covered the roads, monasteries, and homes in a thick layer of white, creating mesmerizing views.
"Tawang has been experiencing continuous snowfall since Wednesday evening, covering almost the entire district under a thick blanket of snow. While snowfall is not uncommon in the region, the prolonged and heavy nature of this spell has led to disruptions in essential services, including electricity, water supply, and communication", officials said on Thursday.
Falling trees and the accumulation of thick snow on power and communication lines have caused service disruptions in some areas, they said.

Odisha raises DA for State employees to 60 percent

Bhubaneswar, May 15 (UNI) The Odisha government on Friday enhanced the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees by two percentage points, raising it from 58 per cent to 60 per cent.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The revised DA will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026.
