T’gana Govt clearing contractors' dues in phases, says Komatireddy

Hyderabad, June 16 (UNI) Telangana Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday said the state government was sincerely working to resolve contractors' issues and clearing pending bills inherited from the previous regime in a phased manner.
Speaking to the media after holding a meeting with builders and contractors at his camp office, the Minister said the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department alone had inherited dues of around Rs 4,000 crore, including RS 350 crore payable to agencies involved in Yadadri temple works. He said more than Rs 3,000 crore had already been released to R&B contractors since the Congress government assumed office, while around RS 2,500 crore remained pending.
Expressing concern over the reported suicides of six contractors allegedly due to delayed payments, Komatireddy said the government was taking special measures to ensure such incidents do not recur. He added that priority was being given to clearing dues of small contractors, LED lighting agencies and retired employees, with payments of ₹140 crore already released.
