Syrup deaths in MP: Company owner arrested

Chhindwara, Oct 9 (UNI) In the wake of the deaths of several children due to consumption of the poisonous cough syrup Coldrif in this and the adjoining Betul district, Madhya Pradesh police today arrested the owner of the manufacturing company in Chennai.
“The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which travelled from here to Chennai, apprehended Sreesan Pharma's Ranganathan during the intervening night. Medical tests and other formalities are being completed, after which he will be brought here. A reward of Rs. 20,000 had been announced for his arrest,” Superintendent of Police Ajay Pandey said.
More than 18 minors have reportedly died in the two districts. Several children remain hospitalised in Nagpur.
