Sushil Modi urges Bihar govt to probe exploitation of labourers after being drugged in Punjab

Patna, Apr 3 (UNI) Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP member of Rajya Sabha Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday urged Bihar government for a thorough probe into prevalent practice of exploitation of labourers of the state after being drugged in Punjab.
Mr Modi said that he had talked to Bihar Labour Resources Minister Jeevesh Mishra and Secretary of the Department Mihir Kumar Singh and requested them to ensure a thorough probe into practice of labourers being drugged in Punjab for longer working duration there on payment of meagre amount. Agents allured poor labourers from Bihar on pretext of high salaries and they were being treated like bonded labourers in Punjab where they were being forced to work for longer duration under the influence of drugs in farming sector, he added.
BJP leader said that BSF had exposed the network in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Ferozpur and Abohar and rescued 58 bonded labourers of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. They were working for longer duration after being drugged by big farmers of Punjab, he further said adding that sustained forced drug addictions had left a very bad impact on physical and mental health of bonded labourers.
