Supreme Court temporarily blocks order requiring full SNAP funding amid shutdown

Washington, Nov 8 (UNI) The US Supreme Court on Saturday temporarily blocked a lower court’s order that mandated the Trump administration to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), withholding approximately USD 4 billion in payments for the food benefits program.
The order, issued by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, provisionally blocked the ruling from US District Judge John McConnell of Rhode Island. McConnell had directed the administration to fully transfer the funds by Friday night, but the Supreme Court’s decision grants the government additional time for the appeals process.
The decision, while temporary, could put at risk the full benefits for millions of Americans who rely on the program to feed themselves and their families.
