Supaul district emerges as key battleground ahead of Bihar’s Phase II Assembly polls

Patna, Nov 8 (UNI) As Bihar gears up for the second phase of Assembly elections on November 11, Supaul district has emerged as a high-stakes battleground, closely watched by political observers reflecting both the NDA’s resilience and the Grand Alliance’s (GA) comeback ambitions.
The district comprises five Assembly constituencies — Supaul, Chhatapur, Triveniganj (Reserved), Nirmali, and Pipra, all currently held by the NDA. JD(U), a key NDA partner, controls Supaul, Triveniganj, Nirmali, and Pipra, while the BJP holds Chhatapur. The Grand Alliance, led by the RJD and Congress, is mounting a strong challenge across the region.
In Supaul, veteran JD(U) leader and Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav is contesting for a record ninth consecutive term. He faces Minnatullah Rahmani of Congress, whom he defeated in 2020. The constituency, with significant Yadav, Rajput, Muslim, and Extremely Backward Class populations, is expected to witness a triangular contest shaped by caste dynamics and local issues such as Kosi floods, displacement, and underdevelopment.
