Sunil Chhetri speaks out as ISL faces uncertainty

Bengaluru, July 16 (UNI) Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri has voiced serious concern over the indefinite postponement of the Indian Super League (ISL), as the sport grapples with growing uncertainty stemming from an unresolved commercial dispute between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and its marketing partner, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL).
In a deeply personal statement shared today, Chhetri reflected on the initial delay of the ISL pre-season. “When my phone went off a few weeks ago informing us of a delay in pre-season by a fortnight, I must admit it made me smile,” he said, noting it gave him unexpected time to get back in shape during a relaxed vacation.
But optimism quickly faded. “That ‘fortnight’ has now changed to ‘indefinitely’ — and that smile’s been wiped out.”
