Sub-inspector found dead in Sarayu River; ADM brother sits on protest alleging murder

Basti, Feb 9 (UNI) The body of a police sub-inspector, who had been missing for four days, was recovered from the Sarayu River in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district.
The incident has sparked serious allegations against the local police, with the victim’s brother — Jhansi ADM (Judicial) Arun Kumar Gaur— staging a sit-in protest along with family members, officials said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar Gaur, a 2016-batch sub-inspector and resident of Mudadiha village in Deoria district. He was posted as Senior Sub-Inspector (SSI) at Parshurampur police station in Basti.
