Strait of Hormuz tensions bring unexpected business boom to Kollam Port

Kollam, May 7 (UNI) Escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have begun reshaping international shipping routes, with Kerala's Kollam Port unexpectedly turning into a temporary refuge for foreign cargo vessels facing uncertainty in West Asian waters.
Several international ships, including LPG carriers and merchant vessels, have reportedly approached the port seeking emergency fuel, technical assistance, supplies, and safe anchorage as fears grow over security risks in the Gulf region.
Port authorities said vessels that would normally travel through the Hormuz route are now reconsidering their schedules and exploring safer alternatives amid fears of military escalation and attacks on commercial shipping.

AP: YSRCP demands inquiry into the allegations on NEET UG 2026

Vijayawada, May 11 (UNI) Dr Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav, Chairman of the e YSRCP NTR District Doctors' Wing has formally written to the union Health Minister demanding an immediate and comprehensive independent inquiry into the grave allegations surrounding the NEET UG 2026 examination held on May 3.
He expressed his profound concern over reports from the Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG), which suggest that a "guess paper" sold for exorbitant sums contained nearly 150 questions identical to the official exam.
