75th BAFTA concludes with 'Dune' and 'Power of the Dog' dominating the ceremony

London, March 14 (UNI) The BAFTA 2022 Awards concluded, with the science fiction epic 'Dune' bagging the most number of awards, leading with over 11 nominations totalling over five wins for Best Production Design, Best Score, Best Cinematography, Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. The Jane Campon directorial brooding Western 'Power of the Dog' was not all that far behind though with eight nominations and bagging two of the biggest awards namely Best Director and Best Film, and Reinaldo Green Marcus Green's biographical drama 'King Richard' winning Best Actor for Will Smith. 'Encanto' won the award for the Best Animated Film while Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi and producer Teruhisa Yamamoto won the award for the Best Film Not In English Language. Other standouts included 'West Side Story' which won two awards, namely Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Arianna De Bose and Best Casting and the Sian Heder directorial CODA bagging the award for Best Actor for Troy Kotsur and Best Adapted Screenplay for Sian Heder. The award ceremony was marked by large absences due to the 27th Critics Choice Award taking place on the same day. The British Awards are usually held one to two weeks before the Oscars ceremony and serve as an important prelude to them. The Oscars will be held on 27th March.
