Chennai, May 15 (UNI) Reiterating his demand for scrapping NEET in view of cancellations of exams held already following allegations of question paper leak, former TN CM and DMK President M K Stalin on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promulgate an Ordinance--since Parliament is not in session--to amend section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, to rescind NEET for the academic year 2026–2027 and allow State Governments to make admissions as per the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations.
Such an ordinance would provide immediate relief to lakhs of students facing uncertainty and mental trauma, reduce the burden of reappearing for a compromised examination, he said.
In a letter to Mr Modi, he expressed deep concern and urgency regarding the repeated failures, systemic vulnerabilities, and growing public distrust surrounding the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), particularly in light of the shocking cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 following a massive nationwide paper leak.
