Stalin felicitates UPSC achievers from TN

Chennai, Apr 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday felicitated the civil services
candidates from the State who had cleared the UPSC examinations under the ruling DMK's flagship
'Naan Mudhalvan' scheme.
Mr Stalin lauded the students for their accomplishment and reiterated the government’s commitment
to educational empowerment.
"During the DMK regime, we always had a vision of transforming students lives. Our goal was to ensure that TN students should face any competitive examination with confidence", he said.
Mr Stalin said the "Naan Mudhalvan" initiative was as a significant step in supporting the students follow their dreams. "I am overjoyed that the the 'Naan Mudhalvan' scheme has been yielding the desired results with more civil services aspirants clearing the UPSC exams.
The felicitation function was held in line with Mr Stalin's announcement in the State Assembly on Thursday that the Tamil Nadu government will organise a felicitation function to honour 57 students who had cleared UPSC exams from the State and also announced its decision to set up a residential coaching centre in the city for civil services aspirants.
The coaching centre, to be set up at a cost of Rs 40 crore, will have all modern amenities and would
accommodate 500 aspirants preparing for civil services exams.
Speaking about the success of his government's flagship scheme ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ aimed at enhancing the skills of the students, Mr Stalin said under this scheme there was a significant improvement in the success of students from the state and cited the results of the civil services examination, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
Pointing out that a large number of students cleared the exams till 2016, he said it had declined
to 27 students in 2021 following which the government introduced several measures in the scheme.
They included selecting 1,000 civil services exam aspirants, preparing them, providing a monthly
stipend of Rs 7,500 for 10 months, he said, adding, those who cleared the preliminaries and were
preparing for the mains were given a one-time incentive of Rs 25,000.
Through the All India Civil Services Coaching Centre at Anna Institute of Management, training
programmes and necessary resources were provided to the students, the Chief Minister said,
adding, thanks to these measures, a total of 57 students from the State have been selected for
All India Services, of which, 50 candidates have benefited from the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme.
