Kolkata, Mar 22 (UNI) The much-anticipated opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 unfolded in grand fashion at Eden Gardens here on Saturday, featuring a star-studded lineup of Bollywood and cricketing icons who set the stage on fire with their performances.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has been synonymous with IPL and Kolkata Knight Riders, kickstarted the event with a power-packed speech, sending the packed stadium into a frenzy.
Following his address, renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal took centre stage, enthralling the spectators with her melodious renditions of 'Mere Dholna', 'Ghoomar', and 'Kar Har Maidaan Fateh. The fans joined in, creating an electrifying atmosphere.
Adding glamour to the evening, Bollywood actress Disha Patani dazzled in a shimmering silver dress, captivating fans with her scintillating dance moves to the chartbuster 'Pagol'. Her energetic performance was complemented by Punjabi sensation Karan Aujla, who took the stage next, ensuring the momentum remained high.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Shah Rukh Khan invited Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli on stage for a light-hearted interaction, much to the delight of fans. The duo engaged in an entertaining conversation before breaking into a dance on 'Jhoome Jo Pathaan'. They were soon joined by Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rinku Singh, who matched steps with SRK on 'Lutt Putt Gaya, adding to the celebratory mood.
The weather played its part as well, with clear skies ensuring an uninterrupted spectacle. With the performances setting the perfect tone for the tournament, fans now eagerly await the first match of IPL 2025.
