Colombo/ New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Sunday congratulated C. Joseph Vijay after he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
In a message posted on X, Dissanayake highlighted the deep historical, cultural, and economic ties between Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu, saying the relationship between the two sides has been strengthened through generations of people-to-people connections.
"Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu are connected through history, culture, enterprise, and enduring people-to-people ties across generations," he said.
He said the future holds "immense economic promise and opportunity" as Sri Lanka and India continue to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen their partnership.
The Sri Lankan President also expressed his willingness to work closely with Chief Minister Vijay to promote prosperity and progress within the framework of strong India-Sri Lanka relations, saying , "I look forward to working together, within the strong India–Sri Lanka partnership, towards greater prosperity and progress."
"The people of Sri Lanka join me in wishing you and the people of Tamil Nadu every success," Dissanayake said emphasizing the close bonds shared by people in both the countries.
