Sikkim CM stresses preservation of traditional sporting heritage

Siliguri, Sep 29 (UNI) Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang stressed the need to promote and preserve the state's traditional sporting heritage, saying indigenous sports play an important role in keeping cultural traditions alive. Tamang was speaking after attending the first Governor's Archery Gold Cup at Tathangchen in the presence of Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur. Describing archery as more than a sport, the Chief Minister said it represents discipline, patience, precision, concentration and strength of character.
