Speaker Scraps Japan Tour as BJP Mumbai Chief Amit Satam Draws Fire Over 25-Car Convoy

Mumbai, May 12 ( UNI) In a significant move to uphold fiscal responsibility, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar has officially cancelled a scheduled diplomatic visit to Japan. A group of 12 MLAs was slated to visit two Japanese prefectures following an official invitation from local governors.
Citing the PM’s appeal to curb non-essential foreign travel and fuel use, Narwekar scrapped the tour to set a precedent for government saving. The decision has been praised across party lines as a necessary step during the global energy crisis.
While the Speaker chose restraint, BJP’s Mumbai President Amit Satam has been caught in a political storm over his recent inspection of pre-monsoon desilting (nala cleaning) work. During his visit to the western suburbs, Satam’s inspection team was seen with a massive convoy of 25 vehicles. The fleet included private SUVs, vehicles for party officials, and a string of BMC (municipal corporation) cars.

Sangli: 14-year-old boy shot dead over extortion dispute

Sangli, Jun 11 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a 14 year-old boy, grandson of a labour leader, was shot in the head over an extortion dispute by unidentified criminals in the Abhaynagar area of the city this evening.
According to police, the deceased boy was identified as Vendant Bandgar, whose grandfather Balu Bandagar is a labour leader.
