SP will win all 9 seats in by-poll for Assembly: Akhilesh

Etawah (UP) Nov 8 (UNI) Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Friday claimed that his party is going to win all the nine seats in the by-elections to Uttar Pradesh Assembly with record votes.
In a meeting with workers and officials of the Karhal Assembly constituency, Akhilesh called upon the party workers to put in all their efforts to achieve a big victory in the by-election.
He said, "We are winning all nine seats in the by-election. The extension of the date does not make any difference. We were winning on the earlier scheduled date and will still win. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) people have deliberately changed the date because a large number of voters had come to their homes on Diwali who were going to vote against the BJP."

Chhattisgarh: 20 Naxals arrested, 8 surrender in Bijapur

Bijapur, May 17 (UNI) Following conclusion of the Karregutta operation aimed at eliminating Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, the police in Telangana's Mulugu district have carried out a major crackdown on Naxal activities and have arrested 20 Naxals from various police station areas, including Wazed, Venkatapuram, and Kannigudem.
Those arrested include one Divisional Committee Member (DCM), five Area Committee Members (ACM), and 14 party members.
