Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 9 (UNI) Kerala recorded a vigorous polling trend in the first phase of the local body elections today, with several districts reporting turnout figures close to or above 70 percent, according to provisional data released by election authorities.
Long queues were reported at many polling booths even towards the close of voting at 6 pm, reflecting the state’s consistent tradition of high electoral participation.
Polling for the first phase in the seven southern districts from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram ended peacefully today.
