Heavy rains lash Visakhapatnam district, administration steps up relief measures

Visakhapatnam, Sept 24 (UNI) Heavy rains continued to lash Visakhapatnam district for the third consecutive day under the influence of a severe depression, prompting the district administration to step up relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures. District Collector M. Abhisikth Kishore said the administration was on high alert and monitoring the situation round the clock in coordination with the Revenue, GVMC, Police, Fire Services, Energy, Medical and other departments. Visakhapatnam Rural mandal recorded 412.4 mm of rainfall, followed by Seethammadhara with 386.6 mm and Gopalapatnam with 361.8 mm, while up to 20 cm of rain was recorded in a 12-hour period…
