Mahalakshmi scheme records 37.09 lakh daily women passenger trips: TGSRTC

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation's (TGSRTC) Mahalakshmi free bus travel scheme has recorded an all-time high of 37.09 lakh daily trips by women, up from an average of 29.42 lakh trips during its initial phase in 2023-24. The scheme, launched by the Telangana government on December 9, 2023, provides free travel to women in Palle Velugu, City Ordinary, Express and Metro Express buses. Women have saved an estimated Rs 2,428.47 crore in travel expenses up to September of the 2026-27 financial year, according to TGSRTC.
