Free gold ring scheme for new borns not applicable to non-TN residents : Health dept

Chennai, Oct 5 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Health Department on Monday clarified that people from other States are not eligible for the TVK government's flagship 'Thai Maaman Thanga Modhiram' (free gold ring for new borns) scheme, even if they come to TN for delivery and receive treatment at government hospitals. The clarification followed a case involving Uma Maheswari of Kazhanivasal in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district.
