Telangana Congress seeks safeguards against voter deletions during SIR

Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Saturday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) not to delete eligible voters from electoral rolls solely for failing to attend hearings during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and sought greater transparency in the exercise. Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin said around 73.39 lakh electors had been excluded from the draft rolls in Telangana, while nearly 47 lakh noticees had not attended hearings.
