Hyderabad, Oct 4 (UNI) Padma Vibhushan Professor Palle Rama Rao, a renowned scientist known for his contributions to metallurgy, materials science and nuclear-related research, passed away at his residence in Srinagar Colony, Hyderabad, on Saturday at midnight. He was 89. He is survived by a son and a daughter. Born on June 30, 1937, in Kurnool, Rama Rao pursued higher education at universities in Bengaluru, Madras, Andhra and Banaras before conducting post-doctoral research in Materials Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
