Madras HC dismisses plea against Oppn DMK MLA's poll win

Chennai, Sep 22 (UNI) The Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed as withdrawn, a petition filed by a woman voter challenging the victory of Opposition DMK MLA V.Markandeyan from the Vilatihkulam Assembly seat in the southern Thoothukudi district in this year's Assembly elections. The Firrst Bench comprising Chief Justice S.A.Dharmadhikari and Justice G.Arul Murugan said the petition was not maintainable as the 45-day deadline for filing an election petition challenging the victory had already expired.
