Stay on EC in holding bypoll to 5 seats : Vijay tells HC that keeping constituencies vacant till disposal of pending poll cases is against public interest

Chennai, Sep 28 (UNI) Even as the stay on the Election Commission holding bypolls to five seats continued, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Monday informed the Madras High Court that keeping constituencies vacant until the disposal of election petitions would be against public interest. The submission was made during the hearing of a public interest litigation seeking a direction to restrain the Election Commission from announcing bypolls in five constituencies where election petitions are pending.
