TGHRC seeks report on death of three newborns in RIMS Adilabad fire

Hyderabad, Sep 23 (UNI) The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), headed by Chairperson Justice Shameem Akther, has taken suo-motu cognisance of reports regarding the death of three newborn infants in a fire incident at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, on September 21. According to the reports cited by the Commission, an alleged electrical short circuit involving an air-conditioning unit caused a fire and dense smoke to spread through the SNCU, where around 27 newborn and preterm infants were undergoing treatment.
