Vigilance probe ordered into construction lapses in Mundamveli Life Mission flats

Kochi, Sep 30 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has ordered a Vigilance inquiry into serious construction lapses in the Life Mission flats built at Mundamveli in Rameswaram village of Ernakulam's Thoppumpady. The flats, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 17 crore to rehabilitate 77 families from the Gandhi Nagar P&T Colony, developed serious defects within 10 days of residents moving in after their inauguration in October 2023. The septic tank started overflowing and water began seeping through the walls, leaving the flats unfit for habitation.
