Karnataka gives insurance fraud SIT statewide police station status

Bengaluru, Sept 23 (UNI) Karnataka has created a dedicated statewide police machinery to investigate fraudulent insurance claims, giving the newly constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) the status of a police station and authority to directly submit final reports to courts. The move effectively creates a specialised investigation channel for insurance-fraud complaints, with cases received from insurance companies to be transferred to the SIT rather than being handled through separate police units.
