Chinta Mohan announces Centenary Celebrations of Dalit temple entry at Tirupati

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former union Minister Chinta Mohan on Monday announced centenary celebrations in Tirupati to commemorate what he described as the historic entry of a Dalit into the Tiruchanur temple in 1925. Addressing the media at the Press Club in Somajiguda here, Chinta Mohan said a Dalit man entered the Tiruchanur temple near Tirupati and performed Karpura Harathi on October 13, 1925. He was subsequently arrested under Section 295 and detained in the Tirupati sub-jail, he said.
