Language-based alienation, artistic freedom discussed at IDSFFK

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 27 (UNI) Language-based discrimination, identity crisis and concerns over freedom of artistic expression came under discussion at an interactive 'Meet the Directors' session held as part of the 18th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) here. The session at Kairali Portico brought together directors of 13 films screened in different categories, including campus films and long documentaries, providing a platform to discuss the social, political and ethical dimensions of documentary filmmaking. Director Aayush Singh, whose film Mother Tongue explores linguistic discrimination faced by non-Marathi speakers in Mumbai, spoke about his personal experiences of language-based alienation.…
