Police warn against fake APK scam targeting hospital appointment seekers

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 21 (UNI) Police have warned the public against a financial fraud in which cybercriminals target people searching online for hospital appointment and contact details and trick them into installing malicious Android application package (APK) files. The fraudsters reportedly display fake hospital contact numbers in Google search results and, when people call those numbers, pose as hospital employees. They then send APK files through WhatsApp, purportedly for booking hospital appointments or providing related services.
