DKS writes to Modi, seeks 50 pc of Rs 3,705-cr drought aid as interim relief

Bengaluru, Sep 24 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has sought immediate release of about Rs 1,852.65 crore from the Centre as interim drought assistance, warning that the crisis is worsening across the state and could deepen further in the coming months. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi dated September 23, Shivakumar urged the Centre to release 50 per cent of the Rs 3,705.30 crore sought by Karnataka in its Kharif 2026 drought memorandum, pending completion of the Centre's assessment and approval process.
