Sooryavanshi set to eclipse Tendulkar as India's youngest debutant

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record as India’s youngest men’s international cricketer has come under threat after 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earned a sensational maiden senior national call-up, marking a historic moment in Indian cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday named Sooryavanshi in India’s squads for the upcoming T20I tours of Ireland and England, as well as the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. If he takes the field, the prodigy will surpass Tendulkar’s record of debuting at 16 years and 205 days to become the youngest-ever player to represent India in men’s international cricket.
Sooryavanshi’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. He first grabbed national attention during India’s Under-19 World Cup triumph earlier this year, where he was named Player of the Tournament as well as Player of the Final, showcasing composure well beyond his age.
