Six Myanmar nationals arrested in Arunachal

Itanagar, Feb 27 (UNI) At least six Myanmar nationals were arrested on Tuesday on the charges of illegally entering the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, India, without proper documentation, a senior police officer said.
Anjaw district Superintendent of Police Rike Kamsi said that the arrests were made following a written FIR from one Wenomso Tamai (47) of Walong village, Hawai PS, complaining that seven Burmese nationals are camping in the Walong area and involved in the extraction of rare medicinal plants, herbs, and mushrooms, breaking the biodiversity of the area.
“The Burmese nationals have been arrested from the general area of Yasong village under Walong Circle today. They were brought to Hawai Police Station,” the SP said.

Mizoram plans to declare ASF outbreak as ‘state disaster’

Aizawl, Oct 9 (UNI) Mizoram Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister C. Lalsawivunga on Wednesday announced that the state government is working on legal and administrative formalities to declare the ongoing African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak as a ‘state disaster.’
Speaking at an event for disbursement of compensation to families affected by culling of pigs due to the ASF outbreak, coupled with a workshop on the disease, Lalsawivunga said that the state had sought the Centre’s assistance to procure drugs and vaccines to tackle ASF, and if unavailable domestically, to facilitate their import from abroad.
