Six killed as car collides with tree in UP

Kushinagar (UP), Apr 21 (UNI) Six persons were killed and two injured when a car collided with a tree in Nebua Naurangia area of Kushinagar district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Monday.
Police sources said that the wedding procession of Vikas, a resident of West Tola of Narayanpur Charaghan under Ramkola police station, had gone to Devgaon of Nebua Naurangia.
"The incident took place late on Sunday night when one of the car in the wedding procession lost control and collided with a tree near Shukla Bhujauli on Khadda-Padrauna road," they said.
Police sources said that hearing the sound, people and police reached the spot and started a rescue operation. "The bodies and injured people trapped in the car were taken out by cutting it with the help of a gas cutter and hammer," they said.
Police sources said that three persons died on the spot. "The injured were taken to the district hospital in serious condition where three more died during treatment. Two injured have been referred to Medical College Gorakhpur," they said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Kumar Mishra said that six people have died in the road accident. "Two sustained serious injuries and have been referred from the district hospital to Gorakhpur Medical College," he said.
He said that five of the deceased have been identified as car driver Om Prakash Madheshiya, Harendra Madheshiya, Ranjit Madheshiya, Mukesh and Bhim Yadav. "The injured include Raj Kishore and Bajrangi," he said.
