Sindhu, Sen spearhead India's challenge at Swiss Open

Basel (Switzerland), Mar 17 (UNI) Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will spearhead India's challenge at the Swiss Open 2025 badminton tournament, commencing at St Jakobshalle here on Tuesday.
World No. 16 PV Sindhu is set to face fellow Indian Malvika Bansod, ranked 28th in the women’s singles, in the opening round. Anupama Upadhyaya, Aakarshi Kashyap, and Rakshitha Ramraj are the other Indian contenders in the women's singles draw.
In men’s singles, World No. 15 Lakshya Sen leads the Indian contingent and will take on compatriot HS Prannoy, the 2016 Swiss Open champion, in the first round. Priyanshu Rajawat and Kiran George are also part of the men’s singles lineup.
India has no representation in the men's doubles category. However, the women's doubles section will see World No. 9 pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand in action, alongside Priya Konjengbam-Shruti Mishra and Varshini Viswanath Sri-Arathi Sara Sunil.
In mixed doubles, India will be represented by the pairs of Ashith Surya-Amrutha Pramuthesh and Sathish Karunakaran-Aadya Variyath.
China's Shi Yu Qi and Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong have been named top seeds in the men’s and women’s singles categories, respectively.
The Swiss Open 2025 badminton matches will be streamed live on the BWF TV YouTube channel in India.
