Sikkim Buddhist Forum appeals PM Modi to repeal Bodh Gaya Temple Act, return management to Buddhists

Gangtok, Oct 17 (UNI) The All India Buddhist Forum (Sikkim) has submitted a formal petition to the Prime Minister of India, urging the repeal of the Bodh Gaya Temple Act of 1949 and calling for the transfer of the Mahabodhi Temple management entirely to representatives of the Buddhist community.
The petition, sent from the Forum’s Siliguri office, emphasizes the historical, religious, and global significance of the temple and appeals for a resolution to a decades-old demand of Buddhists worldwide.
The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, is the site where Lord Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment and is considered the most sacred shrine for Buddhists globally.
