Shubman Gill cracks 7th ODI ton, achieves rare feat

Ahmedabad, Feb 12 (UNI) India’s young batting sensation Shubman Gill added another feather to his cap by becoming the first Indian player to score a century in his 50th ODI.

The milestone was achieved during India's ongoing match against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Gill also set a new record as the fastest batsman in terms of innings (50) to reach seven ODI centuries, underlining his dominance in the format. The stylish right-hander played a measured knock before accelerating to his hundred, displaying his adaptability on a pitch that offered movement early on.
With his century, Gill joined an elite group of cricketers who have scored a hundred at a single venue in all three international formats, a feat previously achieved by Faf du Plessis (Wanderers, Johannesburg), David Warner (Adelaide Oval), Babar Azam (National Stadium, Karachi), and Quinton de Kock (Supersport Park, Centurion).
Notably, the 24-year-old has also registered an IPL century at this venue, further solidifying his reputation as "Ahmedabad ka Raja" (Ruler of Ahmedabad).
Gill reached his landmark in style, flicking a length delivery from Mark Wood past mid-on for a boundary in the 32nd over.
As he completed his hundred, he removed his helmet, raised his bat, and bowed in celebration while the Ahmedabad spectators erupted in applause. His teammates stood to acknowledge the knock, recognising the significance of yet another milestone in his burgeoning career.
