Shimla police bust two major drug syndicates; main suppliers from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh arrested

Chandigarh, May 13 (UNI) In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Shimla police have successfully dismantled two major drug supply networks by arresting key suppliers from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
These high-profile arrests are part of an ongoing intensive drive against the drug menace, which has seen the department neutralize 26 distinct trafficking modules and apprehend a total of 35 individuals so far this year through rigorous backward-linkage investigations.
The first breakthrough originated from a case registered on March 20, 2026, at the Baluganj police station under the NDPS Act. During that operation, five suspects hailing from Haryana, identified as Anjit, Irfan, Ravikant, Mukesh, and Narendra, were intercepted with 93.970 grams of heroin, locally known as 'Chitta'.
