Shelter homes and ABC centres to provide relief from stray dogs in UP

Lucknow, Feb 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has expedited the process of establishing dog shelter homes and Animal Birth Control (ABC) centres in municipal corporations and district headquarters to tackle the problem of stray dogs and the increasing incidents of canine bites in the state, officials said on Friday.
Giving priority to the scheme at the government level, the processes of land identification, budget allocation, and project approval are being advanced simultaneously. It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court had issued guidelines in this matter.
An official said the state government's clear objective is to resolve the stray dog problem in a humane, scientific, and sustainable manner. The government believes that an effective system of dog shelter homes and ABC centres will ensure the safety of the general public on one hand, and strengthen animal welfare on the other.
