Shafali credits Sachin for India's historic WWC win

Navi Mumbai, Nov 3 (UNI) Seeing Sachin Tendulkar in the stands gave Shafali Verma a special boost as she powered India Women to their first-ever World Cup title, defeating South Africa Women by 52 runs in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy here tonight.
The young opener, named Player of the Match, said the presence of the cricketing legend inspired her to stay calm and focused while delivering a match-winning performance. "When I saw Sachin sir, I got a different boost. He always gives me confidence. Legends are masters of cricket, but I get a lot of inspiration from them."
Shafali's innings of 87 runs reflected a combination of faith, self-belief, and clarity of mind. She credited the unwavering support of her parents, brother, friends, and teammates for keeping her motivated. She said her teammates encouraged her to play her natural game without hesitation, which helped her execute her plans effectively in the high-pressure final.
