Sensex Jumps 677.55 points

Mumbai, Jun 16 (UNI) BSE Sensex on Monday rebounded by 677.55 to close at 81,796.15, after two straight sessions of losses, despite lingering concerns over rising geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran that continued to impact the global market sentiment.

National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 227.90 points to settle at 24,946.50

The Sensex opened at 81,034.45 against its previous close of 81,118.60 and rose to an intraday high of 81,865.82. It recorded the day low off 81,012.31.

The NSE registered a day's high at 24,967.10 and a day's low at 24,703.60

Mid-cap rose by 0.93 pc and the Small-cap advanced by 0.38 pc.

The market breadth was Negative . On the BSE, 1,977 shares rose and 2,108 shares fell. A total of 168 shares were unchanged.

All sectoral indices ended the session on a positive note with IT being the top gainer up by 1.50 percent other gainer were commodities by 0.95 pc., Energy by 0.99 pc, FMCG 0.48 pc, Financial by 0.80, Health care by 0.41 pc, Industrials by 0.74 pc, Telecom by 0.94 pc, Utilities by 0.51 pc, Auto by 0.10 pc, Bankex by 0.74 pc, Captal goods by 0.82 pc, Consumer Durables by 1.05 pc, Metal by 0.91 pc, Oil& Gas by 1.22 pc, Power by 0.58 pc, Realty by 1,21 pc and Teck by 1.21 pc

In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined.

Notable gainers were Ultra tech by 2.39 pc to Rs 11,489.00, Tech Mahindra by 2.12 pc to Rs 1,694.10, HCL Tech by 1.66 pc to Rs 1,723.05, TCS by 1.40 pc to Rs 3,495.35, Eternal by 1,34 pc to 252.50 and Asian pants b1.28 pc to Rs 2,243.65

Losers were, Tech Mahindra by 1.02 pc to Rs 1,660.50, TCS by 3,446.25. Sun Pharma by 0.23 pc to Rs 1,690.85 and Maruti by 0.16 pc to Rs 12,401.55

European markets advanced on Monday, rebounding from Friday’s losses, which were triggered by escalating tensions as Israel and Iran launched airstrikes against each other, raising fears of a prolonged and deadly conflict.

Most Asian markets traded higher, as investors kept a cautious eye on the rising geopolitical tensions while also digesting a fresh batch of Chinese economic data.

On Wall Street, all three major US indexes sank on Friday, spooked by the Middle East flare-up and surging energy prices. The Dow tumbled 1.79 pc the S&P 500 fell 1.13 pc , and the Nasdaq slid 1.30 pc. UNI JS SSP
